Zinc Fireworks, Birth of a Star

In a study published in Scientific Reports, researchers discovered that when the human egg is activated by a sperm enzyme, an explosion of zinc sparks. The size of the eruption, is directly related to the health of the egg and its ability to develop into a viable embryo.

We discovered the zinc spark just five years ago in the mouse, and to see the zinc radiate out in a burst from each human egg was breathtaking.
